چکیده
Abstract. The induction of biocrusts through inoculation-based techniques has gained increasing scientific attention in the last 2 decades due to its potential address issues related soil degradation and desertification. technology shown most rapid advances use biocrust organisms, particularly cyanobacteria mosses, as inoculants initiators. Cyanobacteria mosses are poikilohydric organisms – i.e., desiccation-tolerant capable reactivating their metabolism upon rehydration that can settle on bare soils abiotically stressing habitats, provided selected species used an appropriate customized protocol is applied. success inoculation depends inoculant's physiology, but also ability practitioner identify control, with technical approaches each case study, those environmental factors influence inoculant settlement develop biocrusts. This review illustrates current knowledge results biotechnologies or inoculants. At same time, this review's purpose highlight technological gaps hinder efficient application field.

We analyzed potential land degradation processes in semiarid regions worldwide using long time series of remote sensing images and the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) for the period 1981 to 2011. The objectives of the study were to identify semiarid regions showing a marked decrease in potential vegetation activity, indicative of the occurrence of land degradation processes, and t...
